Customer Reviews about Indianapolis Women's Center

  • I did my research on the different abortion clinics in the Indianapolis area. I quickly learned Planned Parenthood was NOT the place to go. That left Women's Med Center and one other place. Women's Med Center was the only place that did not herd you thru the process in a group setting. Every step of the way is private here, and prices are comparable at each facility. With that being said, from the first person I spoke with on the phone when I called to make an appointment to the security guard who saw me safely out to my car at the end of my second appointment - every single person was warm, caring, non-judgemental, and took their time with me. I can't thank these women, the security guard, and Dr. Glazer enough. Realize that you WILL run into protesters when you go to this center. They have to stay on the public sidewalks around the facility though. They cannot come up to you. They will holler out to you, but that is it. Don't let them dissuade you. That being said, the facility itself is easy to locate, but it is very obscure as to what it is. There isn't a big sign advertising it is an abortion clinic, and you can park in the back very discreetly and quickly walk around to the front where you will be buzzed in very fast. There are windows in the building, but they are all covered with blinds so no one can see in anywhere. I ended up choosing the medical abortion because I didn't want to artificially dilate my cervix and introduce a foreign object into my uterus if it could be avoided. I carried two risk factors to possible complications to a D&C (previous c-sections and a tilted uterus) and decided I could try the medical abortion and if I ended up being one of the very few who still needed a D&C then I wouldn't be any worse off. When I came to my first appointment there were only 3 old white men outside the clinic trying to hand out papers and talk to you, and to get you to come into their van for a free ultrasound (which isn't creepy at all or anything). At my second appointment there were quite a few more demonstrators - with their van still there as well. Just be prepared for this. Again, don't let these people scare you into not doing something you want to do. I don't see them at the hospital offering help to new mothers as they leave the premises, do you??? No, I don't. I imagine they go home in the afternoon after a busy morning of hollering at women as they enter this building and pen fantastical letters to their Representatives about how birth control should not be automatically covered by insurances, and how funding should be cut for programs such as WIC, Medicaid, SNAP, TANF, Section 8, etc. Catch my drift?? But I digress...... At my second appointment I met with Dr. Glazer. He is an extremely nice man who made me feel very comfortable. He answered any questions I had, and explained to me exactly what I needed to do and when, and explained to me what would happen to my body with each step. As I type this I am in the middle of the day when I took the second set of pills for the medical abortion. I had myself worked up for something awful. This isn't bad at all. Yes, it is a bit worse than menstrual cramps, but nothing some Advil doesn't take care of. I'm very glad I went with this option. I also wanted to note that you can get into contact with the doctor 24/7 thru any of this process should you have questions or concerns. THANK YOU to Dr. Glazer and all of his staff. I wish I could thank each of you personally. What you have endured over the years in order to provide these services is unimaginable to me. Thank you all for pushing ahead undeterred. I wish I lived close so I might someday have the chance to work with you and help other women feel comfortable at a very difficult time.
